'06 Honda Civic Alternator?
Hi, I'm new. A friend referred me here, seems like a great place.
Anyways, I just got a 2006 Honda Civic LX. I was wondering if anyone knew what the amperage of the alternator on it was, as I want to put a sound system in it and I do not want to kill my alternator just yet.
Thanks to anyone who responds.

Not sure on the amperage though. </TD></TR></TABLE>
I'm quite sure of that, but I don't want to push my limit on it. All Civics since 1994 had 70-amp alternators, as far as I know. The 2006 may be different though, because the EX comes with a powered subwoofer and such. But then again, a bigger alternator, even on a soundsystem like that, isn't really needed...

im sure it should be 70amp, at most; 80amp.
ive ran 1000rms in my 70amp alt and all factory electricals with no problem. i have some grounding points done as well. i dont blare my system everyday and always make sure my car is on when playing music. of course, my lights dim on the hard bass hits. im sure ill be putting my alt at risk if i were to play my music loud everytime i drive.
if you want to be on the safe side, stick around the 800rms range. if your lights dim a lot when the bass hits, thats when you know you have a lot of power running on your stereo. and a capacitor wont prevent damaging your electrical equipment, if any, put more stress on your alt.
