actually the alternator does. i checked with several sound companies...so it pushes around 70 amps for a stock alternator....?

The alternator is driven by the engine, therefore it must be running. 14 Volts/70 Amps. About 50 of those amps are used to keep your car running.

~70 amps is at crusing speed, the Civic probably has only about 30 amps at idle. If you want to make sure just bring it into a shop and have them do an alternator test for you.

Ok, I have a quick question.. regarding something close to this same topic.
2000 Honda Civic EX Coupe
I'm about to upgrade my "Big 3" and was curious as to what amp fuse to use from the alternator to the battery. I've bought all 1/0 gauge wire, new terminals, inline fuse holder, 200amp fuse and conector rings. I read that the stock alternator is pushing around 70amps, I'm wondering how many amps it would be pushing with the 0 gauge wire installed. Should I downgrade to a 100amp fuse or keep the current 200amp ? I don't want it to blow up my battery, once I've got everything installed. Going to be grounding the battery with 1/0 gauge to the strut and to the engine block, then running a power wire over to the alternator 1/0 gauge as well with an inline fuse (200amps).
