p28 skunk2 chip problems?
has anyone got any problem using this chip on their R? i try it on mine today and the car wouldn't start. is this becuase the ecu is mess up or am i doing something wrong? it's on an obd1 ecu and i had got the harness to convert it to my car. is there something else i need to run the obd1 ecu on mine R? the guy i got it from told me he had use it on his typeR motor and had no problem. when i turn it to the on position everything lights up and the radio works like normal, but when i try to start the car it'll start up and die right away. it doesn't even stay on for a second. i also have a vafc and all the numbers stay the same as it did on my stock ecu. shouldn't it change a bit since the vtec point is different on the skunk chip? got any sugguest on what i should do or need to run this chip. i even open it up and everything seems to be fine. what do i need to run an obd1 ecu to an obd2 car beside the harness? as for as i know all i needed was just the obd1 harness. right?
if the code goes on right away that mean that there is a critical error, something either wrong within a harness converter or the ecu?
check the chip in the ecu? are all pins are making contact? is the indentation on the chip pointed towards the plugs?
next check the connections on the harness converter all wires seem fine??? no loose or broken wires???
does the car work with the stock ITR ECU? does the P28 ecu work with any other car, if so then check the harness converter?

i'm starting to have problem starting the car now with my skunk2 chip. when i start up the car it'll idle weird or would just die unless i step on the gas for awhile. this never happen before and just started about 2-3 weeks ago. yet, this doesn't happen all the time either. sometime it'll start up fine and then sometime it won't. what the hell is wrong and how can i fix it??
From what I have heard and am currently experiencing the car will startup fine if it has been parked for more then lets says two hours. But then lets say you drive it for a while and then park and come back in a half then start it up the car will seem to barely start and idle will drop to around 1-200rpm idle up n down a little. I've just tap the gas up to 1k for couple secs then let go and eventually around 10 secs the idle will go back to normal. Dont know if this is due to the ecu fuel map or something.

I have a 98 R with a p28 and it runs like crap too and i also need some help..........but my car does start but it backfires like crazy and sometimes the vtech dosent work when its cold......looks like we have the same problem.......so if anyone can please help

Did it ever work in your car or is this the first time your tried it? If it's the first time then there is a wiring error, probably with your vafc to your harness

It runs rich as hell with increased timing, but it's a race only program. It will do weird things sometimes.

sounds like you and me have the same problem. what i don't understand is why it's happening now and not before? i had it in my car for over 4months with no problem, but the last few weeks it started doing this. not sure but does the heat have any effect on this? i mean when it's not so hot outside it starts fine but when it's really hot out the problem comes back. the temp. was in the high 80's to 90 degrees everytime i notice the car stalling.

99% sure that if its the skunk harness...then bet your money on the Fuel Pump Wire, you need to (T) into the ITR Fuel Pump Relay source. You should be able to get away with just takign the SI Fuel wire and tapping into the Correct Pin source for the ITR. I have had the same problem and I just switched to a custom harness thats made locally and works on both cars. The skunk one only ran on the SI. Wish I could tell you which pins are the SI and ITR.Hope it helps!
biggest mistake for me was using the mugen prog on my p72, my god....can anyone say running rich x20 ? thankfully ive been using my friends mugen p28, not nearly as bad......
