well, my oil pressure is low. i cant get past like 50 psi or something at like 4k rpm, and my vtec isnt engaging. i'm pretty sure it my oil pressure, just replaced the solenoid with a known working one. at idle my oil pressure is under 20, i think its like at 10 or 15 psi. its either that or my oil pickup thing may be clogged. what u guys think?

how would i clean the pickup? just take off the oil pan right? i can just use a brush or something to clean them? its wierd cause not too long ago, my vtec was just fine and everything but now its not engaging and i was looking at my oil guage and i compared it to the prelude manual and its pretty low. i know for sure that the solenoid is working and everything and pretty sure the wiring is good. i'm just hoping its the oil pressure.

thats your problem its screwed up the pickup or pushed the pan to close to it, now there isnt enough room to draw the needed oil

Replace the pan and get back to us. I'm sure a used pan in good shape is easy to get ahold of at a local junkyard for cheap.

*edit* even if it's dented a little right where the pickup is it can effect the oil pressure to the point of VTEC not engadging.

so ur saying that a dented oil may be the cause of my low oil pressure and me replacing it would raise it back up?
