Boostin my LS need some input feel free to leave wat uw ant
Hey guys just wnated ot drop in let you guys know what i have....I have a 98 integra Ls with 8:5:1 pistons...and eagle turbo rods....with bearings and bolts..also stage 3 clutch.... i have a Garett T3 turbo with .42 .48 with front mount intercooler i know it is a small turbo its only good for 300 WHp....but thats all im looking for right now is to have about 300 to the wheels.... alot of people told me that i shouldnt of dropped the compression so low to 8:5:1 alot of people are shocked...but alot of race shops that i have asked told me that the compression was perfect for especially the Ls..becuase the LS does not have HIgh rpms which the low compression is good for the boost and for the setup.........also alot of people say why am i runing such a small turbo setup...i told them that as for right now i wnaan run the small turbo just to pretty much break in the motor and have the 300 WHp after a couple of months i plan on Upgrading to a T3/t40E 57. trim which is good for 490 WHp....i was just seeing what you guys have for some input....
feel free to leave some inputs or any ideas who guys have TAHNKX.......

i really think you should have just gotten the bigger turbo and maybe just boost less? and up the boost later to save some money.
dont forget to tune it well and with a good fuel management would be my advice.

The compression ratio is fine. The small turbo is your problem. I would just upgrade it like you are planning on since that will give you much better results at a lower boost level than your current turbo setup.

i like the fact that you have forged rods and pistons for your first setup..thats a step in the right in direction...but :
IMO i dont think you should have dropped the compression that low...i mean given, its safer, and you can run more boost...while under boost, the car is going to feel and run extremely sluggish...and if you are trying to reach 300whp...you have to think...dropping your compression,is going to make it harder to get up to that number....and on a T3..you would have to boost a lot of psi to even get close to that goal...if possible..try to get 9:1 pistons, thats a safe, and also midpoint for compression/boost levels on a honda motor.
currently i am building a Straight LS turbo setup..no vtec...and i plan on making atleast 300whp..i mean im building my head, but that isnt necessarily needed to accomplish that goal...a little bit more research, and you will meet your goals...

well the turbo kit i bought off one of my freidns who had a acura turbored...I got the whoel kit for 600...so i mean i was looking ofr boost and 600 dollars was cheap at the time...I can always upgrade turbo....but as for right now im just gunan plan on running hte T3 and get as much boost and power and relability out of it until i save a few more bucks to upgrade to the bigger turbo......

if you got it for 600,then thats perfectly fine..i mean as long as you got a good deal on it..then its going to be a good setup no matter what the outcome..because you cut costs by about 2/3's of a normal used Turbo kit price.
right now...just keep your compression the same...and when you get the T3 put up there..get it tuned for atleast 12 to 14 psi..you will feel/see a significant change in your motor's dynamics.

8:5:1 is kinda low, but would be good if you pushed out some massive boost with a t3/t4. with a t3, youre goin to get alot of torque... but not much to show for in the high end. you should look into sellin your kit and going with a t3/t4 setup.

well for right now im gunna just boost it with the T3 setup i have going right now....becuase all i want is 300 to the wheels and the T3 will give me that outcome...after a few months im going to either sell the T3 or im just gunna buy the T3/T04e 57 trim which is good for 490 WHp...but until then im gunan run the T3 until i can save money and just get the bigger turbo upgrade thats all im gunan upgrade is the turbo not the whoel kit.....
good setup, as long as you have fuel management (pump, injectors, ecu tune)
sell that turbo and get a bigger t3 or t3/t4, it will use the same flange, also remember, a turbo that is good for 300 hp is not gonna give you that much unless you are running it to the max, which will just fry it in a short amount of time
u need to tune the car properly as well, this is the most important, so get all the parts right the first time, don't change stuff around after tuning it, and don't run it without tuning it, it will save you money and possibly your engine if you just take the time (maybe just a few extra weeks) to learn what you need to do before boosting

well right now i have bought 550 cc injectors with a walbro 255 pump and also im running a custom computer tuned by a shop in malden that i egt my stuff from....so they will tune my car to perfection and obvisouly with the right tune i wouldnt have to boost the turbo that much to reach my goal...ITS ALL ABOUT TUNING LIKE EVERYONE SAYS......so if i get the right tuning obviously i wont be boostin it to the max cuz i can reach my goal without doing thta...and i prob will upgrade to the t3/t4 turbo in a month right before i install everythign....
