Default Dyno testing of synthetic oils

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1460037

New thread, no arguing (constructive thought is welcomed though).

No need to change the filters that is hard on the engine. Put a new one in before the test or do what you want. I paypaled you 10 dollars for the test and just forget the joe gibbs oil and try to stick to the street blends as racing oil is missing some additives used to extend the life of the oil and other reliability factors. Might just dyno the top 5 . I put my vote in for royal purple , mobil one , and supertech. If you use the straight racing oils let us know which ones are race or street. Rp and redline have both. RP should do well i have used them and Some joe gibbs i got at the pri show for cheap so they didnt have to take it home with them. My paypal addy is gregespey@*********** so you know who sent it. Contact password jdm they have a lot of hamp filters if you can, maybe they will sponsor this test. Or give a reduced price.

Thanks, I'm going to change the oil for two reasons. I want to flush as much oil out of the engine as possible and I've also seen bad stuff happen when you mix redline and royal purple so I'm keeping the two as far away from each other as possible. I'm going to dyno as many as I can in a day. So I should be easily able to do 10 fluids.

That would be great, I'm getting 5 for free from a friend at a Honda dealership.

What a stupid thing to say. Any motor that is built to rev 10k+ will do it even if on wal-mart oil. The wal-mart oil may break down faster, but it sure wont keep the motor from reving to 10k.

I think you are doing a great thing here. A lot of people wouldn't take the time or money to do the test. On the other hand, a simple dyno of oils is not going to tell you which is best. Sure, it will tell you which makes more power, but is that what we are looking for in an oil?

Maybe they need to learn how to build their motors. I have raced cars in the southeast for over 10 years, building my own motors. I always run 6 races on a fresh motor, on WAL-MART brand oil to break it in. Turning 9k rpm about 90% of its life. No spun bearings here.

I kind of look at it like this. Whichever comes out with the most power should have the least amount of friction and thus protect the best too. I know the oils will break down at different temperatures and have different kind of 'half-lifes' as far as wear protection goes but we'll just hope everyone runs an oil cooler.

You are EXPLICIT stupid. All motor oils have to meet a strict standard in order to be even distributed among the US. So pretty much supertech oil is very close to any other basic oil out on the market. And if ur motors are spinning bearings, it is not cuz of oil u dumb a@@.

You also put in the allmotor thread that obx is a good brand. OBX aint ****. Just cus it made more power than a toda cam or whatever he/she was using doesnt mean they are a close cam. They probably have different different specs or they had a different tuner. Also in the thread they say that their lifetime warranty sucks ****. If their cams break all they do is remburse u a new cam. What about everything else that went to the *******. You and ur buddys use cheap **** that cause other **** to go out in the motor. You need quality tested parts from a reliable manufacturer.

LMFao first off, ya, really i got owned on a fourm, sorry no...but..no

I posted my opinion, little kid i've seen obx cams in 3 cars down here, two had crower cams, one had toda, they, were stage 3's and obx made +3 hp over the crowers and over +8 on the todas? give me a fucken break how do i not know what i'm talking about..lol!!

The motor issuse lets talk about that, because maybe i was just ina quick typing mood, but what was ment to be said was this, Mobil 1 i have seen show its true side each and everytime, and i had a buddy dyno his itr and kept advancing hte igition and he was running some off brand shell oil, the bearings like up, why?? oil broke down that motor was fully built by endyne...and they even said off brand oil... beforehe blew the motor up we manged to make 378whp at only 14 psi, and we were goin up to 20.. thx.

if obx is **** i'll find out next week and i can promise you i'll let u know how it goes.. but i wont.. the only reason these cams do this, is fact matter remains you dont really have the proper break in time..

Sounds to me like he blew his motor up himself.

Funny I've never blown a motor in all these years using the cheapest oil I can get my hands on for break in.

Ever broken in an engine?
You know the whole thing about running it for a few minutes and then turning it off and changing it again?
If you want to waste 4$ a quart for 5 minutes go ahead..

*shaking head*
Why is it that e-thugs never have good grammar? They try and talk **** to make a point, but in the end, sound like they dropped out of school before age 10. No capitals i can live with... but periods, commas, etc. Come on now. Take the 5 extra seconds it took you to scream obscenities at your computer screen, and read what you are about to post. If it is going to make you sound even dumber than you already do... well then do you really think anyone is going to believe what you have to say, even if you are right? If you sound like an ignorant, uneducated tool, people will take your opinions as if that's where they are coming from... an ignorant, uneducated tool.

-just my two pennies

Good luck with the test man, i look forward to the results.

The cheap oil seats the rings better. You dont want to run a fresh motor on synthetic, or anything near synthetic for that matter. The cheaper the oil, the better the rings will seat. The better the rings seat, the more HP you have after break in. THEN you make the switch to mobil 1.
