i heard there was a difference between the 97-01 ecus some thing like if you use a newer year ecu in a older modle car you will have a problem turning the car on when you fill up the tank i need to know if i can use a 99 ecu in a 98 lude and if it matters both are automatic

The immobilizer would be the issue that would concern me

 

the immoblizer wasnt a problem when i had to swap from an auto ecu to 5speed ecu the mechanic just reprogamed it but i used the same year ecu so i didnt worry about anything else, i cant remember who it was on here that said the new one where different from the older ones and he knew cuz he programs and chips ecus

 

i think you're talking about how the ones from 97-98 are detuned making it 190hp and the ones from 99-01 are tuned to 195hp

 

hmm no not that im just woried if the car will ever have a problem turning on or not running rite for any reson

 

to be very sure you have to try it....i doubt that anyone knows for sure...

and your car specifically might be different than other peoples...

that aside i see no reason why it would be weird...
