Default D15B/D15b7 build

To start off, im not happy at all with my D15B. It doesnt run right, has low low power. And i want my d15b7 back. Now last night i was thinking of ways i could solve my problem and this idea popped in my head. Lemme know what you guys think or if itll even work.

JDM D15B block (better for low street boost)
d15b7 head
y8 headgasket
a6 cam
aem cam gear
z6 intake manifold

Will this time like i regular d15b7 since they are both d15 blocks and its a d15 head? And will the compression be in the 9.6 or so range? I tried the calc but i couldnt get it to work right. Thanks...lemme know your opinions.

stick with the vtec head. I'm assuming u still have it. Otherwise go find one. Your low end power is going to be dismal and boost won't necessarily help either. As for the compression ratio, 9.6 is stock on the jdm motor i think. You should be fine daily drivin that on low boost...lots of people have done so here.

if it don't run right fix it. that D15B has 130 hp with that y8 head gasket 135. and even lower compression. if you had a d15b7 and now d15d jdm, humm what ecu do you have. let me stress keep what you have over the b7.

im runnin the D15b on a P08 ecu (JDM for it) and a ngk 1-wire o2. Timing set to 16 btdc. No power at all. Idk whats up with it. But i could boost this franken motor and make 200 whp tuned. And i know the D15b rods are stronger. The b7 head is somewhat built. I think its a good idea but just gettin opinions.

The P08 ecu is the ecu designed for that motor and it does engage vtec....everytime i want it too. Its just that it feels extremely weak below vtec engagement.

Sounds weird...could be a cam timing issue. Make sure that the cam gear is perfectly lined up with the crank for TDC...if the cam gear is one tooth advanced then you're gonna have a loss of low-end power.

yes i agree, if u have no bottem end power then your timing is off, also why didnt u just stick a z6 head on it?

No no...the problems that im having are from my JDM D15b vtec. The problems are so frustrating with it. The combo of a D15B block and d15b7 was just an idea incase i cant get this fixed. The d15b is clean in the valvetrain and has 40k on it...just has no power and a sporattic miss at low rpms.

Still sounds like a timing issue...have you checked your cam timing? Try replacing plugs and wires, and maybe borrowing a friend's distributor.
