Default No trunk release... STUCK! 89 Accord damn it what do I do???!!!

Thanks for looking... My sister's 89 Accord 4 door: I guess some crackhead wanted to get into the trunk (Why?!). Well it didn't open for him, and now it doesn't open for anyone. The lever release does nothing and the key turns in the back but won't open. The rear seats don't fold down, which really surprised me and seems like a design flaw... What's the best way to get back there so I can fix the problem?

I'd really like to help my sister out here, so if she gets a flat tire, she can get into the trunk to change it. Also she's lugging all her **** in the back seat now which won't be great if she gets into an accident. Thanks ppl

the rear seats should fold down. I know there's a lever in the trunk to release the seat, which obviously isn't going to help you here, but there's also a keyhole near the center of the rear deck, between the speakers. Insert key, turn clockwise, and then you should be able to fold down the seat.

If it is a DX the rear seats won't fold down. Did you make sure that the trunk release lever was unlocked when you pulled it? you may also remove the Trim around the release levers and use a pair of pliers to try and pull the cable farther if the lever is not moving far enough. Also try pressing down on the trunk lid while pulling the lever. If it comes down to it you could unblot the top of the rear seat(if DX) and crawl into the trunk to try and fix the problem(If it is a DX and you want the diagram of where the bolts are let me know and I can get the pic for you).

Bingo. Accord DX. Thanks for your help so far ericw. The release lever is unlocked.. I pull on the lever and nothing happens. So I guess I've got to pull up the rear seats and get back there. If you could get that pic for me, that'd be awesome

Gonna pull up the rear seats if I must. If anyone has a diagram that could help me out, that'd be sweet
