accord deck latch broken
new to this. need help with repair to a broken latch for an 89 accord. it opened with the remote release by driver seat, then would not latch. it will engauge if you move something into the reciever, and then unlock with the key, then attempted to latch again, and it will not. this model year falls out of all the topics, thought someone here could help.

Re: accord deck latch broken (rakf4)
If I'm not mistaken there's a small lever on the latch itself which may have been inadvertently switched. If that were the case, the deck wouldn't be allowed to seat all the way down. If it's going all the way down, but for some reason the latch is not re-engaging to secure the deck in place, then my guess is the hatch release cable (from the latch to the lever beside the drivers seat) is pinched or corroded and not allowing the latch to fully retract. I had that happen to a few of my hatch's (I've had about 3 88-89 Accord Hatchbacks over the past 10 yrs.).
Also, check out http://www.3geez.com. It's a board dedicated to the 86-89 (and older gens) Accords.
I have the same sn there too, so feel free to PM me if you need anything.
Good luck, and post back to report your findings.
