What is the best tranny fluid for the Fifth Generation Prelude.
During the cold weather my fifth gear grinds alittle, during my upshift. Guys? If you have suggestions, please let me know from your personal experiences with the H22a4 motor's tranny fluids.
I've always used MObil1 10w-30 and never had any problems.......
so there's a problem with h22a gearboxes and the 5th gear grinding etc..... and they always recommend syncromesh etc... and these are the one that always seem to complain about grinds......go figure...
for me, 10w-30, 130,000 miles a lot of which are on the track and travelling to and from school etc... and still no grinds.

me too, the difference was a dry tranny after 500 miles, that **** just flowed out of the seals.
back to honda MTF, no grinds, and cheap, available, stock, works, good, quality, JDM, honda, manual transmission fluid.
smells good too.
does anyone else have a weird thing for tranny fluid, like i want to make perfume out of it and give it to my [next] girlfriend.
anyone?

I just poured the Penzoil syncromesh in my tranny today. I will test my car tommorrow when the temperature is cold. My tranny will only grind from 4th to fifth in the cold weather.
I read on a post somewhere that there are two types of syncromesh from Penzoil. Is this true?

This morning when I started out my driveway, shifting was a little notchy. But the gears were caught pretty tight. As far as force acceleration, amazingly, my shift from fourth to fifth gear did not grind at all. As the engine heats up, the shifting became very smooth. So far so good. I hope this tranny fluid keeps up. I would like to thank the HT community for their input.

I used Honda MTF originally than switched to Pennzoil Synchromesh, and recently switched to Redline MT-90. Out of the 3 I like the Redline the best, but really I don't mind using Honda MTF either.
I think it about a misalign shifting fork. Who knows. I know some guys come out of the dealer to repair that problem with the tranny. Months down the line, they still have the same problem.

I'll let you know how its works.
