Default VSS HELP

I am currently running a 91 CRX with a b16. Everything is working fine but my vtec. I have the y1 tranny with the VSS on it, so I have no speedo at the present time. MY computer is flashing code 17(i think) this is vss. I have the sensor, and the plug, but it is not hooked up. Can anyone tell me what the wires are for(I think there are three) and what I need to do to hook this up to my ecu untill i get a jdm cluster? I was thinking a 5 volt reference, ground, and output to the ecu. I NEED HELP, I cannot find this information anywhere. Thanks

Take the top of the vss pll out the pin inside of it the speedo cable will pop right in you have to put it in just right, this will work till you get a 90 to 93 integra cable speddo sender, there is no use wirring in the electric sensor till, you have the jdm cluster because you wont have a working speedo Jason

Ok, I have tried something, but found nothing. I took out the two 10mm that were on the top and the sensor came apart. Then I took the one 10mm below that and the whole gear came out of the transmossion!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok what did I do wrong? HELP!

You don't need to do that. All you need to do is pull the rubber boot away from the trans and there should be a little metal clip holding the vss in the trans. Pull the clip off and pull the vss out.

you can't use the speed sender that came with the transmission. our cars are designed to use a cable driven speedometer. then inside the cluster the cable turns the speedometer and also converts to a vss signal for the ecu. You have to use the sender from your d series trans attached to your speedometer cable in order for the ecu to register a vss signal. or if you had a jdm instrument cluster you could probably wire it up to work, but thats beyond me.

If anyone wants to sell me their VSS from a JDM tranny I would like that very much. I'm putting in a custom dash that will use an electronic speedo, and the electronic VSS will make things a little easier.

thanks
Ben

You can take the top off a electric vss, and put the speedo cable in the bottom part of the assembly it works try it, Jason

Thanks so much. I got it to work on my lunch break. I just needed to look at it a little harder. The Vtec works now, not to mention the speedo, and the fact that i can rev it till 8200 now, man that j-spec ITR vtec is a pants wetter.

THANKS ALL, wonderful help again.
