Default Transmission Probs.

The Car: 97 GS (Manual)

Issue:

I just noticed it starting on Friday. It hasn't gotten worse but not any better as well. From 2nd to 5th it's not hard to put in gear but I sort of have to double clutch. While the pedal is depressed I have to bring it tight to the gate, release the pressure on the shifter, and then it goes in fine.

This is at any RPM range and any speed.

It will occaisonally grind when going to any gear as well while the pedal is fully depressed and me taking my time. Not rushing it.

The clutch doesn't slip at any RPM or at any speed in any gear.

I don't beat on my car. It's all I have. I'm going to be changing all the fluids tomorrow and I might as well hit up the trans. I doubt the PO changed the trans fluid so Its the same old for 105K. I have purschased a quart of the B&M Syncromesh and the Honda MTF.

If this doesn't solve the problem what else might it be? I'm pretty sure its not the syncros and I have checked all lines and the slave and clutch Mast cyl and not leaks.

It seems like its in the linkage but Im not sure. It has a tight feel and an aftermarket short shifter.

Did you try bleeding the clutch fluid?

when you fill your tranny fill it with GM syncromesh FM stuff works great...mine did the same thing as yours put that in and it stopped the grinding.

Hey just an update. I know why it had a hard time.

I changed the oil in the car first and did the tranny next.

There was only about a 1/4 of a cup of trans fluid in it

No leaks and the cap appeared not to have ever been off. I can't believe PO can be so ******* dumb.

But I guess its my fault for not checking.

I put in 2 quarts of Honda MTF and some syncomesh. Seem to make it a little better but not quite
