I hate everything about my hmotors swap so far... need suggestions..
I have a 97 EK (hatch) with jdm b16a, raced my friends 97 d16 ex... with i/e. He beat me untill 3rd. I hate life. Ever since I did this swap I've had nothing but problems, and unanswered questions. I'm still shooting code 19... no Idea why, my top end is hitting vtec fine and all, but it just doesn't pull... it kinda feels like it, but then you look at the speedo and see you're not moving much. When the engine temp is cold it bogs/backfires/won't accelerate/idle smooth at all. I live in florida so I mean its not like from the weather its anytime the motor is cold. Am I the only person who bought from Hmotors and has a shitty motor? I've done the following:
new dizzy
new plugs/plug wires
adjusted timing
cleaned IACV
cleaned entire throttle body
checked FITV, looks fine, not popping out or w/e
seafoamed twice
changed o2 sensor
tried a chipped p28 ecu in case mine was acting up
so far not much has improved. the only thing that helped was adjusting my TPS sensor a little bit. any suggestions anyone?

how bout more info like which harness you are running...
and i assume your obd1...are you running 1 O2 sensor?
what obd was the engine originally.
if your friends single cam is beating you its because you CEL is on and the ecu is running in "limp home" mode...its retarding hella timing and running in total **** rich mode.
who did the wiring and swap?

Do a compression test.
I've never dealt with Hmotors, but my cousin ordered a B16 from them, swapped it in, and then found the motor had a cracked sleeve. He's one of those panzy asses that's affraid to call people when there's a problem, so I can't really **** on Hmotors because he never gave them the oppertunity to fix it, but when it arrived it did have a cracked sleeve.

Hmm that could make sense, the dizzy is like all the way advanced, but the timing was correct when checked with a timing gun. Would vtec still work though if in limp mode? I have a obd1 b16a (it's JDM so thats a given), I'm using an auto 96-98 EX harness, and yes 1 o2 sensor.

yes all the sensors are plugged right, and the grounds are all right.

Compression testers are like $25 from any auto parts stores. It replaces the spark plug and when turning the motor over it'll measure how much compression you have. Repeat for all cylinders.
Could you have swapped the VTEC sensor plug and the head temp sensor plug? they are identical and just a few inches from each other. I did that once and had similar problems, especially when the motor was cold.

Not to start a D16 -vs- B16 thread, but if you're upset because your friend with the D16 pulled on you, don't be. I've pulled on several people with B16's in Sol's, Civic's, etc through second gear in my D16. When third comes though for them they pass me. Hence, mAd 3Rd gear VtAk! yO!.
If your car doesn't feel like it's running right that's one thing. Sounds like you've got some good ideas and good things to go check.

I have a b16a in my EJ.. its done me right with no problems... i pull sohc in all gears btw... not hating because i loved my sohc... but the thing that seperates my car from the other swapped civics i've raced is my ECU. my stock b16a was dead even with a b16a in a eg2 with skunk2 mani and tb, headers and other bolt-ons mine was stock... look into getting a different ecu
yeah I'll try my buddies ecu again... I also tried switching the head temp sensor and vtec sensor... it seemed to idle better for some reason, but no vtec, and more codes... so thats deff not it.
