car bogs when my vtec kicks in
well my car was working fine untill it started bogin when my vtec was engaging so i was thinking it was time for an oil change so i bought 'quaker state oil 10-30' and i changed the oil and my filter and it still does the same thing even worse?? i dunno wat it is?? might it be my oil becuz i switched over from valvoline 10-40
I dont think it is your oil. ie weight. How did your oil look when you changed it? maybe fuel or fire, check rotor and cap plugs plug wires. The only thing I can think of is if there is still crap in your engine from the old oil.
It sounds to me, like your timing might have jumped a tooth. My engine jumped time by a tooth on each cam gear. All the sudden, it sounded bad ***, like I had a set of cams or something. It made a lot of noise, but didn't go anywhere. When VTEC came in, it bogged until it got to 5500, and then pulled pretty hard. I changed my head gasket, and realized my timing was off, so I fixed it. It's not loud anymore, but it pulls a lot harder, and it didn't bog anymore. But I switched to OBD-1, and that changed my VTEC engagement to 5500, and it made my car soooo much faster. But anyway, check your timing.
I got the same problem, but I dont think my timing belt is off, because it runs great until vtec. its like the car falls flat on its face. hopefully someone has some insight on this problem
My car was/is doing the same thing. I took it to Honda and had one of the techs (my buddy) put it on the diagnostic. And come to find out my ECU is shot. Mine bogs down from 4600 (engagement) to 6000. After that it pulls like a mother ******. But I am getting a new ECU tomorrow with Hondata and obd2-obd1. I hope this helps you.
