When i got my EG it used to overheat and i didnt know why. so i replaced my radiator with a koyo and it doesnt overheat anymore. i thought i had fixed the problem. However, yesterday when i checked my coolant i saw a film of oil on top of the coolant in my reservoir. so now i know my head gasket was blown the whole time.

Anyways, i just got a b16a2 with everything i need for the swap, however i wont be able to put it in for a week, maybe more. In the meantime i have to get to work and back, which is a 15 minute drive, mostly highway.

My question is, how long will my motor last after it starts leaking the oil in the coolant? I need at least a week before i can drop my new motor in.

 

Oh yeah i had a secondary question too. Could this be why my heater only blows cold?

 

are you going to reuse the same radiator and lines after the swap?

 

a week should be fine. i bought a used 93 dx that had the same problem, believe it or not i drove it for about 8 months before my headgasket went out. but i recommend not using the radiator and resevoir thats on the car now. replace it when you do your swap, you don't want all that gunk getting into the b16.

 

I planned on flushing the expletive out of it but yeah im gonna use it on my b16. Its a freakin koyo lol best radiator ive ever owned. I dont see why i couldnt just flush all the **** out real good.

But ive already been driving 6 months on a blown head gasket, but all of a sudden it JUST started mixing the antifreeze and oil. so you think i have enough time left til i do my swap?
