Default Falken RT-615 - Yay or nay?

Anyone have these on their car? How do they perform? Worth the buy? And where's the best place to get them from?

What kind of driving do you plan on putting on these tires. Yay for racing purposes. Nay for daily. Performance? How do you want to drive? For their price? I believe its the same as Azennis but with better water passages. For best prices try Tires Direct. Obviously its not the greatest for daily driving. Daily driving I would recommend the ZE512's which I currently have wrapped on my wheels.

Wish they never discontinued the 502s....they're stickier than the 512s and they handle great in wet. Bump for some Falkens

You don't know traction until you've run Pirelli PZero's or BFgoodrich KDW's. I've used the ZE-512's, so I'm not speaking from ignorance. If you're out for performance, don't skimp on the most vital part. You tires deliver every bit of power you have to the ground, they hold you to the road at high speeds, they determine how quickly you stop. The can determine whether you live or die.

You dont have to pay $250-300+ at Sears or other dealers for these tires. They can usually be found at mom and pop tire stores or even on tirerack.com for literally half the cost. Do yourself a favor and purchase one of these top brands, and you'll quickly realize, you get what you pay for. You won't go back.

Indeed, pricewise, they are excellent tires. But there are those who believe they set the standard for quality/performance. This would be completely wrong. In comparison to standard stock tires, they provide a great increase in performance. That being said, a standard stock tire, is the ONLY tire they improve upon. I would say my biggest grunt with these 512's was the treadlife. So I only paid $62 a piece for them, while I paid $114 a piece for my Pirelli's, but while they lasted a measly 12,000 easy going miles, the Pirelli's took tons of abuse over the span of nearly 21,000 miles. Even while providing seeming more than twice the traction. Not to mention the nasty and sometimes dangerous sway allowed by the Falkens. They would be great for a 'sport' touring car or family vehicle, but the road noise prohibits that. I have to give them two thumbs down.

Pirelli PZero Nero M+S is your best bet for all-weather performance. I am on my second set of the G-force KDW's and while only the best performance is expected from them, the rain performance was extremely impressive. Pirelli Rosso's are great high performance touring tires with comfort in mind, and the corsa's usually are made from racing compounds for the most extreme grip. The Nero and Nero M+S (multi season) give up a little ride comfort from the Rosso's for the Corsa's performance edge. You might note that most new Mercedez are equipped with Rosso's for their ride quality, and Porsche's are equipped with the Corsa's to help live up to their performance heritage.

The factory direct prices I've looked at are around:

$115 Nero M+S
$127 Rosso
$139 Corsa
$130 KDW
$65 ZE-512

All of these prices for a 225/45/17

Just like lenses, with tires, you get what you pay for. The ZE-512 just happens stand out for its value/price. It sticks fairly well to dry surfaces, but fails in the rain or snow, and stability on these rubbers is less than acceptable.
