weird surging, not idle, but under power
my H is acting up, more people in here have doen swaps than the lude forum, so thats why its in civic. i think it has to do with my swap, or sensors that are wired wrong, so prelude people wouldnt have as much of a clue, since their **** is wired for an H from the facrory.
just got my car back from 3 months of bodywork and paint, now it has a dumb problem.
when im under power, but less than ~15% the car acts like my foot is all the way off the gas, then if i sloooowly give it more, it keeps just acting like im out of the gas entirely, then BAM my foot is at about 40% by this time, and it all of a sudden just slams into action, spinning the tires (in 1 or 2).
the only way to drive it is honestly like i stole it, constantly accelerating. If i'm starting from a stop i have to let the person ahead of me get a ways ahead because i have to accelerate too fast to have enough throttle for it not to bog out, then SLAM back in and rearend some bitches.
-this has happened before, sometimes it would stop when i rewire something, or when i reset the ECU.
-i'm running an open throttle body right now, (im looking for a silicone reducer for my 3" intake, cant find it)
-i have a retarded pre-tune P13 (parts on the way for chipping my P28)
any ideas? hopefully the new ECU will take care of it, but its a BITCH to drive, i feel like a jackass trying to go slow on campus, because it'll be just boggin, then SLAM forward and spin the tires.
and since more people look at threads with pictures, here's one of the car out of paint finally.

Sounds like a post-TB leak somewhere. I had an issue like that with a destroyed TB gasket on my D16Z6. It sucked. The idle was nuts and the RPM was barely controlable under acceleration and steady-state throttle positions.
Check that gasket, man.
Nice paint, by the way, but they painted the grille openings that they should have left black

im getting that grille paint thing often, but i like it.
i didnt even think to make those black, the bumper was red before we painted it though, i dont even remember what color the crap in there was.
good call on the post TB, i bet thats it. i'll go through it tomorrow after work or something, i need to remount and tighten my IAC anyway, i had a gasket under it thinking that was maybe the problem, but apparantly not.
any way to know if the gasket is bad other than it being torn or something?

To be honest, my Eg Si did the exact same thing. The only problem is I STILL HAVE HO IDEA ON WHAT IT WAS. I thought it was my stock D series Dizzy....but I later on did a GS-R swap and sometimes it did the same thing. Then I did a B16 swap and yes it did the same thing. My car stopped doing it 2 years ago and never did it since(KNOCK ON WOOD).. It did it alot when it rained???!!!???!!!!??!?!?!?!
I dont have an H only a D but when I was swaping out IM I wired up my IACV wrong and it seemed to make the car have no cruise zone. It was either accelerate or slow down. Don't know if I help any but if you have any more questions pm me.

throttle cable is fine, is there a good way to check the tps reading, i could see how that would cause this.
and my A/F ratio (cruising) is about 15.5-14.3 constatntly going back and forth, (cruising above 70 mph)

When my car is idle it goes from 15.5 to 14.3 but when cruising it is around 14.3 only above 15 when I take my foot of the gas to slow down. Have you check your IACV? because that was my problem.
i tightened the bolts in the IM, and the TB, then plugged the IAC back in and unblocked it off.
it works now.
jdmlyfestyle, where should all my grounds be? I might not have enough.

Your running really lean. What kind of pump and regulator are you running?
