Tuning your Hondata 4
Ok ...... i have a friend who just got one ofo these units and we plan on tuning it maybe later this week or next week . So i would like to know if anyone could advise on tuning it . ( I had one in my civic b4 but got it tuned by some one )
Correct me if i'm wrong :-
First off we gotta tune the car and make sure the timing is set correct , the fuel pressure is where it should be , and cams are dialed in correct ( and any other parameters are set for the car to be running and optimum ). Then we gotta load a base map , after this we use the lambda meter and the datalogger to tune the mixture to get it as close to stoich as possible, this is done by using the Injector mulitplier, Cranking fuel adjustment and the Acceleration enrichment . Once this is done and the logger shows the mixture is ideal . The dyno is then used to fine tune the ingition and fuel maps, the VTEC engagment point in order to get the power curve and torque curve where it should be .
. Then lastly burn the chip and run the car ......
Is this the correct thing to do ?
Here is the cars specs :-
B18C1
84.5mm bore
12.4 CR
head work
ITR cams
JDM 4-1 header
ITR manifold
400cc injectors
Fuel pressure regulator
fuel pump
There are a few things i don't understand :-
(1) what exactly is open & closed loop ?
(2) how do i use these for tuning
(3) if i advance the ignition maps by 'x' degrees , if i place a timing light on the motor will it read the advance ?
