My tranny is making a weird noise....
I have a loud "whining noise" coming from my tranny throughout all the gears. I don't have a problem with shifting nor do I experience any grinding. Is this the symptom of a worn out mainshaft bearing? What do you guys think it is? There is fresh tranny fluid in there as well.
If you step on the clutch, does the noise go away?

mine is doing a silent noise, like a blow off valve!, like if it was wistling around, when I step on clutch, noise go away, no problem with engagement of clutch. friend told me my flywheel was machined and is now making some noise.
is this a good possibilitty???

My Tranny makes a noise too! It's a 90 Civic Si 1.6 Stock motor/tranny. It shifts through every gear perfectly, but when I put it in 2nd through 5th, and hit the gas it makes a slight squeeling noise the more gas I give it the longer it sounds for. I ease of the gas and slow down, it goes away. It's odd, when I bring it out of storage I will have it looked at. Any ideas??
if when you push on the clutch it goes away, it could be your input shaft bearing on the inside of your tranny.
if it makes noise when you push in the clutch, its your throwout bearing...
hth.
