Default WCHC Final 05 event!!!

I stole these pics from UltimateTSI, so thanks for the great pics bud!

What a fun weekend of racing and a great way to end my rookie season. Had lots of fun and cant wait for next year to begin.

Sat started out with some break issues for practice. Changed out a few things and went out for qualifying!
Set an ok time and ended up in 3rd behind Steve (pole) and Edik (2nd). Time came for the race, and all were gridded.

Race got under way and everyone got a good start. Edik ended up getting by Steve, and the next time around Steve had a bit of bad luck and broke the knuckle on his car which put him out of the race. That left Edik and I to battle for the lead. We had a good run for the next 6 laps or so until Edik was able to catch traffic a bit better than I and I was not able to get back up and fight with him.
So, I ended up in 2nd with Edik finishing in front of me. What a great race...

Sunday came, and I was really looking forward to another great race. Skipped practice to prepare the car and make sure everything was right. Went out for qualifying and did a few laps. After I set a lap I was happy with, I just came in. It was looking to be a very close battle set up for the race based on the qualifying times set by Steve, Edik, and I. The 3 of us were separated by less than .5-1sec and none of us ran together during qualifying.
Race time came, and again, we all gridded up.

Again, everyone got a great start and the battle was on.

Edik was able to get by Steve out of T1 and the order again was Edik, Steve, and I. The 3 of us remained very close for the next few laps, but I really wanted to try and get by Steve for second. So I tried a few passes, but Steve kept shutting the door on me. So, I just tried to wait for an opportunity. It came on lap 6 when Edik got slowed down by traffic coming through cotton corners and Steve went 4 wheels off going around the traffic. I saw my chance and tried to make the pass on the inside down into the button hook. When Steve came back on track, he tried to cut across to the inside, and kept coming closer and closer into me, but I just did not want to give because I thought I would have the line and he would give. But to no avail, I was forced off into the dirt and could not slow while in the dirt. We made contact, and I waited a sec for Steve to get back on the throttle to stay in front. I did not want to take the position in that circumstance no matter if I had the line or not. So, we all continued on and I kept at it trying to get by Steve.

After seeing these pics, it's even harder to tell who actually had the line. When you close the door like that, you can expect contact sometimes when you have 2 drivers that want the same spot on the track!
I take responsibility for the incident though, and think it was a gutsy move on both our parts.
I chalk it up as a racing incident, and harbor no hard feelings toward Steve at all. I hope I get the chance to make a clean pass next season!

Rest of the race, I tried to keep in close enough to Steve to get by if he made a mistake. That became difficult to do when coming through the bus stop he hopped the big curb and broke his exhaust which came flying out the back at me.
For the next 2 laps, I watched amazed as his resonator was still under the car, unattached, but trapped sparking and spinning around. I then hung back a bit to try to avoid it when it did finally come out. It finally cleared coming through the bus stop and I went off avoiding it and traffic that cut me off.
That was basically the end of my 2nd place chance for Sunday, and so I continued to push hard in hopes of the "what if", but was happy with my 3rd.

Few more during the race of how close it was!

Working hard!!!

Thanks for the great year all you H4 guys. Thanks NASA for having such a great series to run in. I had so much fun and cant wait for next season. I really could not have hoped for a better start to my HC racing! I had so much fun and love racing with all you guys and hanging out. I hope I can do the whole season next year! Anyone looking to sponsor an H4 CRX, please let me know!
Thanks to all that helped me with this season, you know who you are!

Special thanks to my sponsors for this season! Without your help, none of this would have been possible!

^^^ Agreed, cool pic!

From that sequence of pics where you were forced off though, I don't know, it looked to me like you were easily far enough along side of him to deserve the room. I don't think I would've taken the blame for it if I were you.

Congrats on the two wins, Edo!

Default Luke, I am your father.

Jeremy, nice work. You seem like a good competitor and a nice guy from my keyboard

Something stinks about the race however....

If you hit the Turn one apex hard enough thats a foot high many time you really can break things.

Don't worry Mike. That's what the off season is for. A little spit shine, and it will be looking blingtastic again!
