Default Just bought 01' Civic EX, any sugestions?

I'm new to this so give me a break. Just taking suggestions for the usual Header, Exhaust, Intake... what's better than what, good vs. bad, and compatibility. I dunno, my goal is a decent performance while not waking up the neighborhood. Cosmetics i'll do on my own.

suspension and brake upgrades will give you the best performance gains for the money. I personally I have Tein SS coilvers, Progress 22mm rear sway bar and a neuspeed front tower bar. Combined with a 03 civic Si rear disc brake conversion. The car handles and stops like a dream.

I/H/E do nearly nothing on the d17 power plant. Your options for real performance upgrades are turbo kits and motor swaps. But if you have to, i'd say go with a K&N FIPK, a full catback exhaust and a DC header.

boost or swap, shop for a used turbo kit @ that other web site..... last time i named it it got deleted by a mod the website is something like 4,5,6......? thgencivic.com haha anyway for the money you'll spend on I/H/E you could spend just a little more on a used turbo kit and make well over 5-10 times more whp than I/H/E

Thanks for all the responses so far... keep em coming. Anywho, sometime in the future yes i'll end up getting a turbo but as of now im gonna lay low and chill just because im new at this and getting a turbo this early in the game is sorta jumping the gun. It's like for the first time on a gun range instead of trying a .22cal ill take the .50BMG ya know?

I have 01 em2.... Boost it as soon as possible... The d17's response to boost is pretty good.... t3/t4 9-10 lbs.

^yea, so long as you have good engine management and a good tune. Otherwise youll end up with all sorts of motor problems.

The first thing I got for my car is an AEM CAI, but if only get that if your planning on going turbo, otherwise get a SRA, it'll do your car better. After that I got a DC Sport Exhaust. I can definitly tell the difference in my car's performance. I'm going to go suspention next probably. I just wanted at least a little more HP first, concidering my car only has about 115 stock. lol

Because the D17 is such a piece of ****, I really reccomend doing a K swap. Its a LOT better, and cause the EM2 is pretty light, itll be fast and sound great.

i got dspec tokico(16 way adjustable) with han r springs- go with suspension and save money with k swap. Even with built internals people are only getting 240-250 hp. k swap with intake race header k pro exhaust and you could be around 210. I know a guy with this and he ran 14.1 on reg tires. He beats his friends worked rsx, 350z, s2000 @ the track. You can go alot further with the k motor so thats why I started saving for spring. And if you turbo it there is room for an intake. Hasport did swap with turbo 308hp to wheels so thats probaly 350 or so to the crank. Also it was on 8psi I think. Don't waste your money tuning the d17. Evryone I know with the k swap luv it and don't have issues with it where you might get with turbo d17a2. The em2 is heavier than previous civics but still lighter than other tuner cars like the rsx, 350, s2000, evo, wrx so if you get close to their hp numbers with stock or even weight reduced em2 you can end up leaving em behind.

yeah if you want speed then go boost or nothing. Spray was ok for me for a while but nothing compared to boost.

I don't know man ...

I've never met any girl who was interested in my swap, other than my gf... who I met way before I swapped, so that doesn't count.

girls = trading in your civic for a g35.
