Default making a turbo manifold... QUESTION

alright well, im probably in the future going to be making my turbo manifold for my D-series. Anyway I would like to know where to begin basically, I need a good place to buy piping and flanges, yes ive searched but still dont understand where to start the actual process. Should I draw it out first? get the flanges first etc... Any help/pics would be great, and of course im going to be tigging this.
Thanks guys (sorry if this is a hardcore newb question) Thanks again

-Jon

This is my protoypte idea for my ZC. I am going try to merge 1-3 and 2-4 together instead of 1-2 and 3-4. I wanted to go top mount to be different. If I don't like it, I'll make another.

Why do you want to merge those cylinders?

I would be better flowing from everything I've heard. Balances the firing order, that way exhuast gas is not trying to flow through each merge 1 fire cycle right after the other. Creates and more evn and equal flow.

This is what I've been told. I made this pic for representation to get feedback, this is what I've heard so far, and it makes sense to me. This design would work if it fired 1-2-3-4 but our motors don't. 1-3-4-2 if I remeber correctly from the last time I did valve lash.

1-3-4-2 is correct. Typically you want to pair opposing cylinders, ex 1-4 3-2. On a 4-1 merge collector the position of the runners is important as well just fyi.

You're not gonna be able to get any nuts on the manifold studs with the tubing like that.

As I said this is for a visual only. They are 1.5 304SS Bend like everyone else. Tey are not crushed in the pic. It will work

why not have it merge the other way and not have piece from runner 2 go into runner 1, but the other way around so the exaust flows into the turbo more directly, it would be like the short tubulars you see kinda, or would this not make any difference at all lol
