Default No 3rd gear

Okay I have a problem with my H22 tranny. I just replaced the trannies about a few weeks ago, just got over the whole axle popping out issue, and I added 2quarts of Honda Transmission Oil. The problem is there is like no way to get into 3rd gear while driving. It sits there grinding and trying to reject the gear change. I don't think its the tranny, could be but hopefully not. I was told it could be the gear box assembly (97-00 Accord) or it could be there are bad bushings on the shifter itself. I'm really not sure what the problem is, sometimes it'll go into 3rd and most of the time it wont. I really got to get this fixed. So any input would be great.

Change the synchros, or get a new tranny.

If you could get into all gears normal and fine then its probably the tranny. Sorry.

I can't get into all gears normally thats why im posting this. Sometimes I can and most of the times I can't. Like shifting from 1st to 2nd at high rpms doesn't happen, 2nd to 3rd never happens, 2nd to 4th always, 4th to 5th always. What engines are these trannies to?? M2S4 and M2A4????

change your synchrose out... is it not going in at high rpms or will it not go in at low rpms either?

You have to pull the trans apart and then take apart the main and counter shafts, its not something for the novice especially without access to a press.

If its only one gear and intermitent check your shifter bushings, I had a similer proplem with my trans a few weeks ago. What happend to me was sometimes it would be very difficult to get into gear and other days it would shift no proplems. The proplem was where the linkage mounted to the shifter was sloppy so I put a few washers in to take up the slack and re-center it, and it took care of the proplem.

Btw a set of syncros is often more expensive then a new transmission.

i was told something to that extent about bushings. Im gonna try that and replace the clutch cylinders, master and slave. then if doesn't work swap trannies.

looks like its only having trouble going into the top two gears, 1 and 3 which is strange.

i think i remember a post about this before with some answers to that as well may wanna see if you can find it.

but another bump for you mine does this occasionally as well.
