Default boreing out a y8 block would u do it?

alright i got a buddy that will bore out my y8 block for me i dont have to money for a dohc so im going with this. what would u bore it out too? 2.0 or 1.8? planning on turboing it to.

Well, do you plan on sleeving the block/cylinders? The stock bore of your engine will be 75mm, you will need at least an 80-81mm bore to get to even a 1.8L. That's way too much on stock sleeves. Honda only recommends boring/honing the block to repair cylinder wall damage to a maximum of 0.020 over, which is only 0.5mm. More than that and you will need aftermarket ductile iron sleeves.

For the price of sleeving ($800+), I would just get a 1.8L block.

Yes sir, definitely. In fact, it would be cheaper to just buy the entire LS motor, not just the block (because then you would need a B-series DOHC head). You can get full swaps for $500 or so. DOHC is better than SOHC.

what year integs do ls motors come in? sorry i know what comes in 96-00 civics and thats it

There are different motors for the 96-00 civics as well, some vtec, some non vtec. And mostly SOHC with the expection of the 99-00 civic si thats DOHC vtec.

Integras came in the LS, SE, GS, RS, GSR and Type-R USDM. If you are talking 94+ i believe the LS, SE, GS, RS all share the same motor a b18b, often just called a LS motor even if it came from a RS etc. Its the same exact motor, I believe the GSR motor is a b18c1, and the Type R is a b18c5...i believe.

Then there are the OBD's, if your car is a 96+ then its ODB2, and you would need a 0bd2 ls motor to swap to make it the easiest, and most legal swap.

i got a 96ex figure i put a ls in and boost it with greddy headers and catback and all that other goodness whats the hp id be looking at?

Okay, stop right there. You need to learn about how turbochargers work. There are no "headers" in a turbocharged system. You have a turbo manifold. You also already have a catback exhaust, you need to determine your goals/budget first before purchasing any turbo/parts.

Exactly. Throwing money at it without knowing what your final goal is will end up being a big waste of time and effort (and money!).

I thought Edelbrock makes a pretty comprehensive turbo kit for the D-series engines. Stock internals too. Dyno charts show a 70hp/50lb-ft improvement over a stock D-series vtec with 6lbs of boost. That's according to Sport Compact Car's article in their December 2003 issue.

There are lot of options and ways to go with building/replacing your engine. Figure out what you want to achieve in the long run and work towards it.
