Default idle problem...tried everything!

well three days into trying to tackle this problem and I have not been able to hunt down my idle problems. I've searched g2ic, h-t, through a helms but still fail to get a steady idle.
Here is my problem. Cold start the idle is perfect. Idles steady at 1600rpm. Within a minute or two the idle drops down to 1000rpm like is should. It's getting close to 850rpm which is what I set the idle for in the hondata system. As soon as it gets to around 1000rpm is slowly surges to 1400rpm then back down. a/f is really rich when it does this but driving my a/f is perfect around 14.7.

Here is what I did. I adjusted the tps to 0 and replaced the tb gasket with a brand new oem one. didn't fix the idle. so i remove the FITV and screw down the cap. i still get suction even after that so I fabricate a plate to block it off. no suction but my idle is still the same. sprayed carb cleaner on the lines and the idle does not go up. i can decrease and increase the IACV duty with the hondata so that leads me to think that it is in good working condition. bled the cooling system but no luck. replaced injectors with stock ones and still no go. i cannot remove the IACV because of clearance issues but would it be ok to spray carb cleaner in through the hole in the manifold and use compressed air to get any gunk out?

the car is runs fine other than the idle which is bugging the hell out of me. any ideas or feedback would help. thanks.

try checking the coolent temp sensor for ecu. or try disconnecting it when it starts to surge

Have you done any TB mods or adjustments? I would advise unplugging the IAC controller and resetting your base Idle Speed on the TB. I had the same problem with mine. Also, make sure the gasket is lined up right.

Hey, I was just wonder, I have a squealing sound coming from, well god knows where everybody hears it different places....we recently had the list cut down to the transmission (clutch release bearing) but I just noticed, the squealing only occurs at low rpm, and occassionally in idle after the engines been running, it's fine when it's cold... but ya, before we came up with the transmission another thought was the intake butterfly... which is what got me thinking TB.... I was just wondering if the tb gasket out of place would cause some sort of air release causing the squealing sound? The symptoms for RPM are basically 1400 upon start up.... and then idles down to 1000 like it should....but then after running for a while....it drops way down (around 400 then surges up to 800 sputters back down, back to normal just all over the place really) and almost stalls out on occassion but never actually does.... Is there any chance this would be the Distributer?? Alternator?? Valve Timing?? and would any of these also cause that squealing sound?? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Cooch2005...squealing sounds usually come from belts. something is slipping.

lynxs1981...no TB mods. just adjusted the tps but didnt replace the tps gasket, just the tb gasket. to reset base idle i would just unplug, use the idle adjustment screw to get to 550rpm?, then plug it back? not really sure about the whole process. the gasket is lined up correctly. it seems there isn't a way to put it on wrong. all the notches and holes line up. just a matter of which side faces the IM. i had the grainy side of the gasket towards the IM. when i tried to remove the tb. the gasket was "glued" to the IM.
