Installing front speakers in '03, sound sucks, help
I just put in a good deal of effort to remove the door panel, mount my crossovers, cut the speaker basket to mount the speakers, and modify the tweater bracket to mount the tweaters. And the sound sucks, both highs and lows. I still have the factory setup in one door and it sounds much better than the new speaker. (FYI search not working)
3 theories on why:
1. I used the wire going to the factory mid-base speaker as the input wire to the crossover. Is there a crossover already built into this wire?? which would mean I am crossing over twice??
2. I used XTC speaker baffles and they may be hurting my base response.
3. The speakers I installed are old and may be broken after sitting around the last 3 years.
Any help?? Any ideas on solving this??
Thanks.

Honda's tweeters use passive crossover; there's no "box" that you can wire before. Trace the wire on the door harness back to the plug, and splice from there to your NEW(hint) speakers. I used a set of Infinity 6" and it sounds great.
what speakers are these that u just put in? and what power ratings are them?
your stock headunit is most likely not powerful enough to run these speakers, get an amp to run them
using an amp to run the speakers will sound heaps better than any headunit

Why even post if this is going to be the extent of your suggestion to the guy? I mean really, do you have the first clue about audio period (much less mobile audio)? Holy **** man...
Anyways...as someone else said, you'll need to splice from the harness itself...you'll also probobly want to go ahead and hook up both sides (since truthfully, it is not hard at all to remove the door panels on the S2000...i was able to switch out my wife's speakers back with the stocks after her accident in a salvage yard, while it was raining with just my trusty black and decker power driver...its fairly easy man...and while yes, you should be careful, of alot of cars ive done speakers in, the clips in the S2000's door are not very weak, so you can pull back with a good amount of effort and they wont break like alot of domestic cars will).
btw...is there any space around the mid bass where air is escaping? And as someone else asked, are you sure you got the polarity correct?
