It's a good vehicle to have a little fun in. If you want *****-to-wall fast, get a civic with a swap.

My dad's got a 99 LX five speed....same engine and tranny. It's no S2000....but especially in the lower gears, if ya put ur foot down, it'll just fly!

Speed aside, engine is smooth and quiet enough to be a V6, and tranny and clutch both feel damn near flawless.

maaan... accords are great cars! My friend has a 99 accord LX auto, i love the interior and the style on the outside. The engine is smooth, the car has a good kick anytime you hit the gas hard.
I would not recommend the civic because it's a smaller car, therefore the space inside the car isn't the same as an accord. I find accords much nicer than civics, engine and the whole car itself is more CAR to be in than in a civic.
I would love to have a 98-01 accord EX with 5sp, unfortunately, I just could not find the way I wanted, but I got myself a nice 97 EX with 5sp, still a great car, it is an accord!!

The 5 spd will keep you entertained until women, a career and the IRS finally do catch up to you. Sorry, but it's inevitible.
The nice things about Honda's (and Accords in Particular) is that they have no bad habbits. They won't turn around and bite you in the A..s if you're not paying attention.
With relatively minor upgrades to both the suspension and brakes, you'll have a car that will all but take the worries out of navigating the twisty-turnies. THEN you'll find the stir-stick even more fun.

First off, are you thinking about getting a coupe or sedan? I have a stock 99 Ex 5-speed sedan and it is pretty quick. Also it depends on what you want to do with it. Are you planning on doing engine work or are you gonna do cosmetics just for show? These are all things that you have to think about. If you want speed I would go with a coupe just because it is lighter.

Depends on what your used to. If your used to V8s it will seem a little under powered. But compared to some of the domestic 4cyls it will seem pretty powerful.
