I have a civic hatch with no dash in it, is there any legal way to put a dash in it that the vins don't match? I don't have or have any idea where the original dash is, it is a theft recovery vehicle, any help is much appriciated
I believe as long as you have the title and a readable firewall VIN, you can apply for a new one. Contact your local DMV for more information.

thanks man, Thats what I was planning on doing I was just wondering if you could even do it. I'd rather make an *** of myself on here than at the dmv and you gotta stand in line forever there.

**** does that have to do with it? I know where they all are I have to put a dash in a car that doesn't have a dash so the vin on the dash isn't gonna match the vin on the rest of the car.
put the new one on.
get it inspect by a trooper ( make sure it's not stolen )
There are a form has to fill out by the inspector.
apply for realignment
I just done mine. ( in Texas )
Call your local DMV they'll tell you what you have to do. Difference state has difference laws/ways.

i got pulled over for that once, basically just let them know the dash was damaged in an accident, and please read the one in the doorjam.
she didnt seem to have a problem with that. i suppose there are ways to replace it legally, but i figure the dash is only one of 3 places the vin appears....

Depend on the cop. Some will check the dash vin # and run it to see if the dash is stolen. That way they put Vin # mostly on every part of the car. ( hood/fenders/trunk/bumper/etc. )
It's the law to have it realign. Just like swapping engines...
