Default MSD ignition package >> I need some help please!!!

How ya'll doing members?!
Well, I just got my MSD igniton package today and it is for 97 accord EX 5sp.
I got a modified distribuitor cap, some 8.5 wires and Blaster 2 coil.

Now.. problem is that.... instructions sound complicated.
To start: the instruction for the "blaster 2" says something about connecting 2 wires with a "ballast resistor" ( 0.8 OHM resistor ), and me... my friends, have no idea what "ballast" means, even when I got that word translated to my first language... I still don't know what is means or what it is....

I am going to ask something for the members who have installed the ignition package from MSD. Could somebody show me pictures of what it will look like after being properly installed? Seeing the pictures will give me a better idea of what I need to do and where everythings should be placed to perform at their best!
I would like to thank any post and or pictures in advance!

Thanks a lot for any help!

The resistor goes on the 12v power side before the coil it cuts the volts down to protect the coil. I got the ss coil no resistor and the dig 6 box.

I'm sorry!! I am sorry, but I still don't understand. I appreciate the picture from BLKchrykord and the comment from Jfish, but I need a closer look to understand how things go together!
I swear, the more I read the instructions the more upset I get, it's so complicated!!!... I mean.. isn't this supposed to be a less than 45 minutes installation? The msd instructions sound like a job for to be done during summer!!!

I am sorry, but I am going to ask for more help and pictures, and patience from members... but I need some more help!!

Thanks people!

BTW, I can do few things on cars, from engine to body work and stuff like that, but when it comes to anything that has wires, voltage or anything related to electrical I just have no clue of what am dealing with.....

Please, I need a little more help!!

This is what I've got!!! But I really have no clue of where to plug the cables of the msd "blaster 2 coil". Is it straight to the battery cables?? Could I use a fuse meant for cables on sound systems like those thick *** fuses?
Please help me out!! Thanks people!!!

Alright, you have to remove the stock coil. When you do this there are two wires that attatch to it somewhere, one's yellow and one's white I believe, atleast on mine they were. In the msd instructions it says to cut these (dont do that) so you can connect the coil to them. I ground down a wire connector to slide into the ends of those two wires and attatched a wire from the white to one of the posts on the coil and the yellow to the other post on the coil. You'll also have to drill a small hole in the cap to feed these wires out so they reach the coil.

You then have to assemble the wire that goes from the coil to the cap yourself - follow msd's instructions - it's a little difficult at first but you'll get the hang of it. After that and installing the cap, put your wires on, start it, if it doesnt start recheck ur ****.

I know these arent the best instructions but I did this back in april or may so work w/ me. If I have time I'll take some pics on friday of what I did since I have class all day tomorrow.

As requested...

Good thing I took these, there was a dead spider in my cap. Probably what caused my misfire the other day.

Looking towards the front of the engine bay.

How I connected the wires from the coil to the dizzy. I didn't bother taking the tape off but I'm sure you can figure it out.

Stock coil missing...mine actually had a hot spot on it.

Positive and Negative terminals on the cap. I don't remember which wire was + or - coming from the dizzy but make sure you keep track of whats what or just do one wire at a time.

Hope that helped.

Your distribuitor looks different from mine! I'm still having a problem because I can't really understand how to wire them.... ...I don't know if I should wire before or after the resistor....
But anyway.... ...i got the rest of today and this sunday to have all this stuff installed!
BLKchrykord, thanks a lot for posting your pictures!!! I will try to figure it out by looking at your pics and comparing to mine!!! Thanks man!!!

I started doing the "tune up"... the instructions said the a gray wire was the positive, but that grey wire isn't the one connected to the part that i had to remove in order to fit the modified cap. But there was another grey with a yellow line that i sealed with electrical tape, because it was connected to the part i removed.... i don't know if i'm going the right direction....
At discount auto parts they could not tell me which part was the freaking "ballast resistor"...
Am i wiring the right ones here??

Did these MSD people give you a number or web-site you could call for tech support? Sounds like more trouble than it's worth. What will this ingnition do that is worth all of this pain and heartache? Hope you have another car to use, while you figure all of this stuff out.

Well... it took me a few hours... i can't believe i actually spent hours..... but... i've got it done.... ....i got the wrong wires at firts... then.... i had to re open the distribuitor cap and undo 2 wires and rewire some other 2.
The car starts quicker, makes a slight different sound when looking at the engine idleing... ....seems more steady when not accelerating!

Again, thanks for the pictures BLKchrykord!!!
Thanks a lot!!!

No problem.

That was one of the MAJOR things I noticed right after I started the car - it idles so smooth and even. Definately starts quicker. MSD does have a tech forum section on their website. It's not all that much of a headache, took me like 30-45min including assembling the wire that goes from the coil to the cap.

Yeaahh... i mean.... i got so confused with the thing about ballast resistor and stuff... ....but i'm happy with my "modified tune up"....
Even at discount auto parts the guy could not point out what was the ballast resistor inside the distribuitor.... I spend one and a half hour on saturday and then one and a half hour on sunday when I finally got everything done!
I think it was worth just by seeing the engine idleing the way it is now....
