Default timing advance

Dear friends,

I'm new on the board. I own a JDM Lude from '94.

Do you guys have any idee how much to advance the ignition timing on these cars.

And also wanna know what the stock timing is.

Thanks Andy.

Et 14.88@94.17 mph.

If you don't know anything about ignition - i wouldn't suggest touching anything. There's no point, unless you're tuning the motor.

I agree with KingPin.....If you don't know much about it, don't screw with it. If you car is not modified, you won't gain very much power anyway.

I asked this because with my past car (suzuki gti) you advance the timing @ 12 degree and it worked gr8.

So I just wanted to know the basic tips to tune the car, I already have cold air intake, and exhaust.

The stock resonator is very big, is it possible to replace it with a smaller one, will this deliver any extra power.
I;ve read that 2 1/4 pipe will work great.

thanks andy.

Ignition is never the same on any vehicle. And there are no "basic" tips because you can't tune unless on a dyno.......unless you're good.
What kind of exhaust do you have? A cheap one?

After your intake, I say get a decent header - or do suspension and transaxle work. A nice clutch w/ light flywheel and decent suspension would be nice. A good header also.

Go to the prelude essential links at the top of the page to read on things. There is a lot of beginner information there. Don't mess with timing though. You could really screw something up.

someone correct me if i'm wrong here, but I thought it was 15 dbtdc +-2. I wouldn't bother changing it though, you don't gain power, it just shifts your powerband up to higher rpms.

yes the exhaust and cold air intake are cheap one, as i do not live in the states it is hard to find AEM or DC here on the island.

ok i'm not going to mess with the ignition. Later on i will buy a header and my goal is to add some Nitrous.

Thanks.
Andy.
