will i pass smog with z6 in eg?
I live in so cal and i was wondering if it would be possible for me to pass smog with a 92 d16z6 motor in a 94 dx body. I know the motor is supposed to be same year or newer, but do you guys think i have a chance? If so, should i run the dx ecu? Or the si ecu? Should the vtec be wired up? Any opinions on how i can pass smog. Reason for this is im planning to buy a 94 dx eg with a 92 z6 motor.

I think he means EX/SI. You always have to use the same ECU for the motor.

use the p28, they are both obd-1 so i dont think it should matter....they could check the numbers on the motor tho then you would be screwed

Run the P28 (EX/Si) for the D16Z6. Fuel/Ignition is probably different for the D15 and D16. Wire up the VTEC so you don't throw a CEL.
As long as the motor is healthy and they don't run the VIN you should be fine.
