Default f22 turbo

ive got a 92 accord ex, and i was talkin to a mechanic about a turbo, he said because i dont have a mass O2 sensor that my car wouldnt handle a turbo or somethin, i have something called a map sensor. im wonderin if anyone out there has turbod a f22a1 engine and what they did?

your mechanic seems to lack general efi knowledge, of course you can turbo with map sensors. it just where the air density is measured, map = intake manifold or throttle body, mass air= before tb on intake piping reads air going through it

You can turbo charge anything. Infact many people with factory turbo cars will switch to a map setup because a MAF can be a restriction. With no engine management however, you ecu will hate seeing boost. There are cheap ways around this, using the stock ecu but i will not recommend them. I also would not recommend going turbo if you can't do it yourself. Most mechanics will not want to touch your car if you put a turbo on it and if you can't fix it, you will be stuck. You either won't be able to find a mechanic or pay a shop way to much to work on your car. My oppinion is that you shouldn't be driving a modded car unless you can fix it your sell, but again, just an oppinion. There are alot of headaches associated with going turbo, or even upgrading your turbo on a factory turbo car. I know i went a bit off topic but just putting out a bit of a warning.

You should go see your mechanic and tell him that u own a Honda, and he should just keep workin on small blocks and leave honda power alone! HAHHAHA!

ok, well now that i know i can turbo it, how much should i expect to spend on it? like the turbo manifold, the turbo charger, intercooler? and where would i find this kinda stuff for an f22? and what all is involved in turboing it? the engines got 130k miles on it, but just had a bunch of work done so its runnin real nice now

in the forced induction classified forum or the sponsor market place.

do some researching nad peice together a custom kit, thats what i have done.

easiest and cheapest way (which is not always a good thing with b00st).... go to a junkyard and rape a 1st gen DSM (talon, eclipse, or laser) for all it's boost related parts

Then get some good tuning, go with Hondata. Hondata usually runs around 400 bucks used, with boost option, and ecu. You will then need to have it dyno tuned which usually costs around 150 per hour, and takes around 3 hours.... Dont skimp on the tuning, thats where most everyone makes their mistake and ends up blowing there engines up.
