Ok before you people get all upset, i have read all the topics on this. but there are SO many mixed responses i wanted to see if anyone knows for sure: does the factory type r wing bolt up to the tholes from a factory gs-r spoiler?? i know that the hole for the led will be left, but is there any drilling required?

 

are there leds on a normal type r spoiler? because ive seen itr wings with both the led and without the led which one is the original one

 

no there arent led's on oem itr wings

 

Yes, the ITR wing fits into the factory GSR wing holes with no drilling, but the there are two large holes left on either side of the hatch that should be welded and painted properly. To give you an idea of the holes that are on the hatch when you remove the wing, there are two small holes on each side, and there are two large holes on each side approximately in the middle of the two small holes, and towards the center of the hatch.

There are large holes for the LED light and then there is a plastic snap in connector for the wing that fits in the large hole on the driver side of the hatch.

Be prepared for high prices to weld and repaint the hatch if you want to use the ITR wing without tape or plugs to fill/cover the holes.

What if you had the Type-R spoiler WITH the LED? Will it fit directly in like the GS-R spoiler does? I ordered my Type-R spoiler with the LED, and its on its way. Please let me know if it will fit in all the holes...

Also, how do you take out the original spoiler? Can someone post instructions on how to take off the OEM GS-R spoiler? Thanks!

 

If you put a OE ITR spoiler (no led) on you GSR you will have half a hole exposed on both inner sides of the hatch. All you need to do is get some vinal sticker materal that matches your paint and cover the holes. No one will notice unless they are looking real close.

 

Comptech makes a type-r wing with led that will use the factory holes.

Yea. Thas what I bought. The Comptech Type-R spoiler w/ LED. So it will fit in the factory holes and cover all of them? I should recieve it next week or so...

 

Well I already took off the gs-r wing and theres only 3 holes on the passenger side and 2 on the driver, i don't see the third hole on the drivers side... is this normal?
