Default z6 with y8 cam gear

ok guys I got a z6 that has a y8 cam gear on it....I know the z6 and y8 cam gears are slightly different. this is what I know

check that site out that is where I am gettin most of my info

I picked up a JG adjustable cam gear for 40 bucks off some guy on here and it is also for the y8. Now where do I set it to to set it at TDC when the crank is at TDC....I am thinkin 4 degrees retarded but I am not sure

this is my first post in the eg forum I am an ef kid so thanx for the help guys

ok when I set it to that...I got to line the thing up and no matter what I do the cam and crank always seem to be about exactly half of a tooth off......should I set the cam gear to 0 and TDC the thing and then get it lined up and then retard the cam gear 4.5 degrees?

retard the gear first. then put it on. then install using the tdc mark on the gear.

that is what I have been doing and it always seems to be off by half of a tooth....

well when you retard the gear it's going to move the outter part aprox. 1/2 tooth.

yeah that is why I think I am goin to try and zero it because the teeth line up and then retard the thing....( I would have tried by now but I only go work on my car on the weekends)
