87 octane gas in CTR piston NA LS set up
i wont go into who put the gas in the car but TRUST ME, it wasnt me! So now i have a full tank of 87 octane gas in my car, heres the problem... i just built the motor, its an all motor LS and it has CTR pistons.
How harmful is this to my engine and what tends to happen to a motor that has too low of octane in it??
What do i do!!!!!????????!!!!!!

Id do this
I'm sure octane and babying would be ok but still just for extra safety i'd drain tank and ball tap or cooch stomp the HECK outta who poured 87 in.

its funny you guys say this because i called a local parts shop thats fairly reputable and they said theres nothing to worrie about.
ive always understood that their could be detination, but apperatly im running rich or something because ive already gotten on it once or twice and nothin happen..
i guess ill syphin it and put it in another car, get some 91

apperently kragen sells a syphining thing so im gonna pick one of those up and give my gas away, yea never thought id be giving gas away
Just an easier way to do it is... Disconnect the return line from the regulator and add a longer hose off the return side of the regulator and put it in a gas can, start the car and let it run till the can is full. repeat this till empty. Good luck! If you blow yourself up, you didn't do it right!

I hope u guys know there is a drain bolt on the gas tank, it is near the driverside rear axle area (yes i know theres no rear axle but thats what its still called)
yup. driver side of the tank. there is a 17mm bolt. undo the bolt and the gas comes flowing out.
you cant siphon. newer cars have a screen in the filler neck that is there just for this purpose.

i ended up just drivin around and wasting the gas instead of draining it, didnt feel like dealing with draining it so i just mobbed around real slow untill i got down to a half a tank and then i took it to chevron for some 91
so... hopefully im not at as much risk now for detination
this got me thinkin...
listen to this.. im drivin the car earlier today, the oil light starts blinking.... ??? im like ?? so i check my oil and it turns out im down to about a quart of oil. I have checked for leaks before and havent found any, i dont know what the deal is.
so i guess its a good thing my dad accidently put 87 in my car and i was mobbin my car slow or things could of been a lot worse.

I ran 87 octane in my B16B a coupel of times with no ill effects other than a noticable loss in power.
If you are really worried about it then just drain teh tank and put good gas in it. Your ECU should be able to compensate for crappy gas unless you beat the **** out of it while its full of low octane.

but do you have as high of compression as i do ? or are you talking about just a normal b18b?
