i remember reading a post on here about a guy with a built sohc ( cant remember the engine model) he was getting insane hp numbers. dont remember exactly but anyways story was he was spanking b16's. so if you got the money, and the time to do it right hell yea. I would totally love to see another sohc get built and make some great numbers!
good luck! your setup sounds nice

i raced an all motor high comp sohc and it was even with me. he's a member on here and his list is far bigger than yours.
i had a bolt on 90dx crx w/b16 and Thermal exhaust and he had built 12.5 compression sohc. he also had a lighter car 88std and bfg drag radials.
1st and 2nd he was gone with traction and possibly more torque since the ol b16 only had 103wtq. 3rd gear i was slightly roping him in 4th pretty much dead even and at the same time both tripped the the sensors on the 1/4 track. plus i had bad 2.5 60'.
great race but wasnt worth all the time, money and effort.

What he means is that a fresh built d16 can spank a 'typical' b16. Typical meaning all stock with i/e at most, beat into the ground like many teens do to them.
All the b16 has is higher rpm power due to better flowing head & vtec on exhaust cam and a lower-geared tranny (although due to b16 price, a 4.7 lsd in a d16 would be possible). Apples-to-apples a b16 will be making less torque throughout the entire powerband than a d16. If you compaired a d16/b16 with the same max whp, the d16 would be making ~10wtq more than the b16. Good examples are in the FI forum, where most mild B16 kits will be hard-pressed to make 180 wtq, while ghetto-kit d16's are making 200-220 easily. The FI will also teach you something else - 10whp more from 3k to 7k is always better than 10whp more from 7k to 8k.

also i dont think u need the msd stuff, many high hp 600-700whp hondas use stock ignition. They accually gain power and lose problems when switching back from a msd.

what i meant is an all motor d is not that fast considering **** i seen and raced. not a freshly built stock d16. i meant a freshly built all motor 12.5 compression D fairs even with b16 w/boltons. and if the dude didnt have drag radials he would of lost by who knows how much.

well that sucks for that guy because this what my crx had
D16z6 and si tranny-free just had to help swap a b16a in a crx.
stock bottom end
milled head .030-$50
Zex59300-$240
DIY port n polish-Freebie
CAI-$60---ebay yea
4-2-1 Header-$20 i was the 3rd owner originally bought from ebay no namer.
in my 89 crx hf it went a best of 14.1@96 with a 2.15 60' with falken azenis with my regular tires crappy sigmas it went 14.2@96 with a 2.20 60'......my friends 90 crx hf with b16a i/h/e went 14.7@94 with a 2.3 60' so thats like 3 car lengths right there against a bolt b16 with far less money then his swap cost.
