exhaust side cam wont move /turn
like the title says, my exhaust cam wont turn at all, it does, then stops like if something is blocking it from turning, motor is not in the car yet, VERY WORRIED, been spending money on this motor to get it together and now i'm afraid its been a waste
If you are turning the cam without the timing belt in place, you could (and most likely are) experiencing some valve/piston contact. I would advise against turning the cams unless the timing belt is installed and properly timed.
the valve could be sitting on the piston with you trying to turn it. put it to TDC to see if it turns. It's not gonna turn freely with the engine assembled.
Does it move at all?
Does it move at all?
yea it moves, then it would stop like if something was blocking it, i took the cam caps off, and inspected everything, looks like the last owner put new valves in, i took the cam out and everything, looked all round in there, everything thing seems fine, nothing bent, now i put the cam back in, and put the camp caps back on, NOT tight, cause i dont have a TQ wrench, but just snugg so the cam wont pop off, and now the cam turns both ways, counter and clock wise,
check the condition of the cam journals and bores to see this could be a possible culprit
also like the guys about me said i think that alot if not all honda motors are interference engines which means if the cam is not in perfect timing with the crank the valves can and will hit the tops of the pistons
put cams in timing with crank and install the timing belt and slowly try to turn the eninge over and if it still happens then i would deffinitly check for bent valves among other things

tried it with the timing belt back on, and still does the same thing again, could it be just everything is just off sync? and the valves are hitting the pistons due to being of timing? when i would turn it, it turns a couple of times, and then i it sounds like it hits something, then stops turning
With the crank set to TDC two of the pistons are up and two are down. Turn the crank to 180 from TDC (both sets of pistons are at the half way point) . If the cam does not turn free then its binding and needs to be checked for proper fit.
