Default a few set-up questions i couldent find on "search"

okay well, i was planning on buying a GSR complete swap for my hatch but my work decided it would be fin to cut some of my hours and my front driver's UBJ decided it was time to be replaced, so i wont have the 3500-4000 (canadian) it will require.

so, an OBD1 full SiR-2 swap comes up to roughly 2200$ CAD but im planning on boosting, and i really dont want a high-compression torque-less B16. so the idea arised "why not buy a LS long block and make a LS-VTEC? so in total the SiR-2 and the long block will run me about 2600-ish. but i have also played with the idea of a CR-VTEC....but the b20 isnt a block suitable for boost (so i hear).

now, onto the questions:

1) how is the LS-Vtec fuel economy-wise (when not hitting VTEC)
2) will the SiR-2 oil pump fit onto the LS block? (heard it was superior and will help get much needed oil to the head)
3) the LS has a crappy rod stroke (will have to move the pistons alot faster compared to the SiR) without any motor work, how high will it be able to rev safely?
4) will i be getting lower or higher compression then the SiR-2?
5) are any of the SiR-2's block internals interchangable with the LS?

OMG.. im gonna hate to say this. But SEARCH.. SOOOO Many topics on this

are you building this for boost or N/A?

LSVtec can get good gas mileage its all in the tuning

You can Rev a LSVtec from 7500 RPM's to 10000 RPM's Depends on how well you build it and how deep your pockets are.

GSR Oilpump will work just fine

Your Compression will be what ever pistons you use with the head that you use. GSR head yeilds higher compression than the b16 head

You can put a b16 crank in a LS and basically you are making a B16B CTR motor without the Girdle and oil squirters

Default Re: (JDMlyfestyle)

okay but i think you mised my set-up questions

"building" for boost, as stated above BUT i put "building" into quotation marks because the internals will be stock and im only planning on running > 10 psi

the revving, stock internals and SiR head (b16a) as stated above

cool, gsr oil pump works...will the SiR one work?

stock block (and internals) with SiR head....what kind of compression will that yeild?

oh yea, what will i have to do about oil to the head?
