Default PLEASE HELP!!! 97 ITR, she needs a doctor!!!!

Hey guys, i searched for what im talking/asking about, but my questions are semi-specific, so i didn't end up with anything, anyways...

i have a 97 integra type r

mods are:
custom 4-1 header
comptech exhaust
comptech ecu
msd 8mm ignition wires
aem short ram intake

HELPPPPPP!

ok, the problem(s)
1) making a whinning moise when i am pushing the clutch pedal, im thinking its the throw-out bearing, which is no biggie, i'll just swap in a whole new clutch, but nowwww...besides that, its making a different whinning noise when im on the throttle...do you guys think its just throw-out bearing still? or what would be your guess....

2) check engine lights like crazzzyyyyy, i've officially thrown my 4th CEL since i bought it only 2 months ago...one was misfire, and other were because i'm running too rich. i have stock FPR but an aftermarket fuel pump, but im under the impression that it wont run more rich because the FPR is still letting same amount through. anyways, what do u think can lead to me running so damn rich? i was thinking maybe its the ecu, because its runnin my car like crap.

3) does anyone want to swap + cash for this ecu? i just want my car to be able to daily drive without throwing a code! its great for racing, but for street, its not that good considering i drive 300+ miles commute every weekend.

4) anyone in the sacramento area wanna meet up and take a look at the car, and/or help me work on it?

5) oh yeah, also...just recently, my car started to do this...at around 2k rpm or 3-3500, my car kinda...feels like its misfiring, or jumbling a little bit, errr hesitating, any ideas?

thanks, i know its a lot of stuff, but i'd appreciate some help on the subject, you guys are...after all, the smartest

ya sounds like your ecu...if you really want a ecu get a chipped ecu or something. If all out, hondata and AEM ems is out there...but it sounds like your comptech ecu is causing problems

... or, try some stock plug wires (maybe even take a look at the rotor, cap and plugs).

try also checking your coil...if the resistance is out of limits, then replace it.

That aftermarket pump is overunning the regulator. Get an adjustable one and a gauge to correct it.

The stock FPR is being pushed too hard by your fuel pump. You need a fuel pressure gauge to know whats going on.

You need a wideband to check and see if the bogging is, as I suspect, you running too rich at those RPM's. Probably why you're missfiring too. I suspect the Comptech ECU is ment to be used with a stock fuel system, and your pump is making you run rich.

Get rid of that ECU, go hondata, AEM EMS, or something DIY like Uberdata,

Huh? If the primary O2 goes, you go into limp mode, not just a little "bog". If the secondary goes you just get a code.

I had the same issue with the car misfiring around 3k and ran really rich. I found out it was a short circuit. Once fixed it ran great. Took a long time to find though, because I was getting a vehicle speed sensor code and an electrical load detection(short) and the grounds for the VSS are tied into everything. So I had to check everything connected to that gtound. Turned out to be the secondary O2 sensor. What check engine codes are you getting?

Actually, if you replaced the o2 recently, there tends to be a small piece of rubber in the bung that a lot of people miss. This will cause the sensor to work intermittently and will result in the bog I described.

I only know this because it happened to me.

yuor trans problems are probably release bearing, AND input shaft bearing
Both cheap, but the input shaft bearing requires you to open up the trans.
Cheap parts, lots of labour if you don;t do it yourself

$50 for an ecu is pretty cheap, but I can't imagine that demand for stock OBD2 ecu's is very high. I'll sell you my stock ITR ECU for $50 shipped if you like.

*bump* for another 97R owner

Definately agree here. Make sure your plug wires are all good, and in good....and that your spark plugs have been replaced recently. Start with the easiest to fix stuff...

Don't bother getting an AF gauge if it isn't a wideband unit. If it's something you'll be picking up from autometer or wutever that has pretty little lights that dance around then it is pretty much useless.

Look for something that has at least 5 wires if not 6 for a wideband.

Check the condition of your distributor cap/rotor also........replace if necessary.

I'll sell you my stock ITR ECU (98 ITR) for $100. Plenty of people can vouch for me on here. Let me know if you are interested.
