Default 2000 hatchback - short shifter and alarm

Hey all,

Two quick questions:

I have a short shifter that i want to install, and i removed the plastic center console and can't see how to remove the stock shifter. It looks like I may have to go underneath the car. does that sound right? I just took a quick look, maybe i missed something.

Also, just last night, my alarm went super quiet. it used to be really loud, but just yesterday, it's really quiet. Any idea what could have happened? It's a python.

Thanks,
Khoa

i did myself 2 month ago, took me about two hours,
and yes you need to go under, what i did was lifted the driver side front wheel with the jack and laid under, its only 3 screws there anyway, very easy.as soon as you go under youll understand what to do.

Use ramps! Do not use just a jack! If you use a jack , use jack stands! As for your alarm , the horn is probably dying. But the shifter is easy to do. Make sure you swap out that bearing on the ball part of the shifter. And clean it.
