Default 5th gens with HIDs: i got a question for you

have any of you ever had HIDs with and without projectors? i'm trying to find out how non-projector HIDs perform against projector HIDs. i want to get HIDs but i don't want to hack up my headlights to fit the projectors. do they still have the cutoff line HIDs are known for? hows the light/color look? i will probably go with something around 5000k in terms of color. i thought there was a post about headlights without projectors a while ago, but i can't find it, so sorry if it is still out there somewhere. thanks.

Non-projector HIDs are terrible and blind people. That's the reason for the regulations against them. Just do the retrofit, it's not hard.

Damn, beat me to it....Defenitly do a retrofit, cause the lighting is way better than just putting HIDs in without projectors..As a matter of fact, I do retrofits for people. If you're interested, just IM me

not true at all, i have HIDs w/out projectors and they work prefectly, just make sure you adjust your beam pattern on them. mine are 8000k sylvania ballasts

...and how do you adjust your beam pattern with a freeform housing?

It's not a matter of them functioning or not, the kits are illegal and for good reason. Someone post up the picture of the HIDs in halogen housings shining on a wall, that shows it perfectly.

i have never heard of any regulation. i finally found some pictures of headlights without projectors, and i don't really like that look, there is a LOT of glare from what i can tell. looks like i will retro-fit some projectors along with the HIDs. i have a write up i found that i will be using. thanks for your input guys!
