Ball joint removal for CV axle removal help.
I'm trying to remove the CV axles from a 1991 Accord, and to do that you have to remove the ball joint from the knuckle. That is where my problem is. I've done a search and come up with some methods, but none of them seem to be working. My last try was the method described in the auto-to-manual swap in the "Guide to basic Accords" thread. The arm just rises with the knuckle. I've also tried using a gear puller on the "tangs" cast into the lower arm. The puller arms just slip off.
Is there another way? Can I unbolt the lower arm at its inner point on the body? Will I need an alignment after that? Any help is appreciated.
Edit: Nevermind, I think I just found the answer:

I had one of those tools in my hand last night when I was leaving the parts store. Instead I rented a 2/3 jaw puller. Now I feel like a retard.
