engine surge problem...??
alright guys, so here are the basics. b18b block. b16a head. obd1 ecu. throwing knock-sensor cel
my engine is basically running like ***. as its warming up it will drive fine until its warm. then while its idling it will surge randomly and drop to about 200-300. i go to accelerated and it sputters as if its not getting any fuel and barely moves. the only way that i can get past the sputtering is if i overclutch to about 3-4 grand and then it will drive fine in the rpms after that. does anyone know what this sounds like, or what it could possibly be?
also, im leaking oil. i replaced the head gasket a few months ago and has had a slow leak even before i replaced it, thinking it was the head gasket. here are some pics of what the leak looks like.

That leak looks to be from a distrubtor O-ring, not the headgasket. alot of times headgasket leaks will leak down the fron of the block, directly behind the header.
Most of the time sputtering/bogging is caused by too much fuel. The reason the engine will start surging when its warm is because the ECU is switching into closed loop mode, looking for feedback from various sensors, then trying to correct your fueling issues.
If sputtering includes backfiring/popping, its most likely a lean issue.

well i need to get my socketed p28 mapped so i can get rid of the knock sensor cel. hopefully that will help with a lot of the not running good part
