Default Pictures of my cylinder head

Nothing crazy or special. The goal was not to take too much material off so that the compression doesn't drop a bunch. The area around the valve reliefs was enlarged to improve flow at low lift.

No major portwork, just a brief grind to clean them up. The guides were replaced about 8k ago, and it would have been a hassle to remove them again to do any porting. I'm planning on having a fully worked head next year.

The combustion chambers had a lot of carbon buildup since the last time I had the head off (roughly 8000miles ago). So the chambers are now polished to a near mirror finish.

The head is a '97 ITR head. She also has Supertech Nitride valves, Supertech Retainers and valvesprings.

Enjoy the eye candy

Marshall, when are you going to get it tuned with the ITB's and cams? I better see you at ITR Expo again next year.

Soon...soon. Trying to organize a cam comparison on my motor within the next week or two. So far I have BC5's, Skunk2 Pro2+'s and Pro3+'s. And yes, I am already saving for next year's Expo, except I am definately trailering it this time.

Yes, the overheating caused cylinder 3 to run severely lean and I blew apart a sparkplug in the middle of the AJ-R trackday. Parts of the plug got sandwiched between the exhaust valves, which created small knicks in the valves. Replaced the valves, did a fresh grind, did some of the combustion chamber work, and installed the Supertech valvetrain all at the same time.

The sparkplug that caused the problems:

Find some slicks on 5x114.3 wheels and we can both attack the track

Damn, if it's not one thing it's another with your car. Glad you're staying on top of it though.

Well, I think it could have been a lot worse considering the cylinder ran lean. Goodluck...cylinder head looks good.
