Default Swap troubles

Hey guys we swapped a working 98 b18b1 into an EG hatch and it was struggling to start at first. A friend told us that because the hatch was stored for so long that the fuel could be bad, and to just keep trying to start over and over. So we bought 2 gallons of 92 octane and put it in there with the quarter tank of old gas that was in there. It finally got it to start up good, but then once we turned off and tried to turn it back on, we were having problems.

It would start up for a split second, and then die right away. We actually got it to start and drive for a while but it sounded real unstable and sputtery. Eventually it stalled and we primed about 10 times and kept pressing on the gas while we were cranking and it would do the same thing (start up for less than a second and die)

Anyone have any ideas?

how long was it stored?..and even if it was a working motor like you stated, if it was stored for a significant amount of time..its always advised..even if it WASNT stored..to clean it up with a new gasket set/belts/fluid flush and change/spark plugs and just a general tune up...

well the integra wasn't stored. the hatch was stored for a long time.. maybe 3-4 months of not being started..

The integra we pulled that motor out in a couple hours and put it in that same day, so it wasn't sitting at all. Fuel pump sounds, so i'm pretty sure that it's working the right way, but who knows. ECU is the stock LS ECU from the manual teg.

sputtering/bogging could be failing fuel pump/filter...

I would start with injectors and work backwords.

i would replace the fuel filter, drain the tank, run some good gas and injector cleaner through it.

3 -4 Months on the EG being stored is not enough to get bad gas.

Spray Carb cleaner ( dont use that cheap Advanced auto parts crap, Use 2x2, in one of the vacuum ports while someone turns over the engine. ( it will run like sht) but if it starts and stays running while you keep spraying carb cleaner in the port than it could be a bad fuel pump, injectors, Fuel filter etc.
