Default DOHC non Vtec For 88-91 civic/CRX

Gotta D16A1 DOHC non Vtec for sale with a New distributor, B18 TB and performance ignition wires. Pulled it from a customer car and It's been sitting on the floor of my shop. Compression was OK when I took it off, but I'm selling it as rebuildable. If you want help with installation in the seattle area, I can do that too, on site if you want.

Location is North Seattle.

Price: 250 Firm.

once again this will NOT fit in a crx the jdm blacktop zc with. the d16a1 is not a zc and you will have to custom fab up your own mounts and it will be hella ghetto....the only motor this will bolt into is an old school late 80's acura integra

sorry just don't want anyone to be screwed

Not sure what sort of experience you have had that would make you say that this wouldn't fit.

As far as I know, most forms of the ZC as well as the d16a1, a8, a9 share the same D series mounts, but I will check up on it.

In the car I pulled this out of, it was mounted to the stock CRX SI tranny and stock mounts from the old D series single cam that was in there before. Nothing custom or ghetto about it.

Just looked at the blowup in the manual and it looks like GNAR may have a point, appears that at least the early d16a1 from the 86-87 teg had a different mount. That motor also had vaccum advance and other ghettoness. This motor is from an 88 and it has electronic advance, better cams, etc.

I'll look up info on the right side mount for the 88-89 series to check compatibility, but mostly out of curiousity, because this motor WAS taken out of a running CRX and the mount was NOT ghetto rigged, etc. So there is a possibility that the mount on this motor is either mismatched (ie from a ZC) or custom fab.

Either way it works fine.

It depends on what you mean by "worth it"

It has more power than the motor currently in your EG, and it DEFINATELY has more potential, simply by the virtue of being DOHC, if nothing else. Many of your accesories, (I.E. Power Steering, alternator, etc) may be compatible.

I am going to reccomend that you go through it a little bit before installing it, not because it had any problems, but because it's just the smart thing to do. (I'm talking replace gaskets, remove and clean the head, even do a water/oil pump and new rings) That way you'll have a motor that will last you another 100,000 miles or more.

Although I am new to Honda-tech.com, I am an experienced mechanic who has done more than my share of hybrid work on hondas. I wouldn't mind helping you out myself.

I can get you some good quality but affordible turbo pistons, as well as better cams, etc. for a good price if you would like to do some work on the engine.

well if it came out of a crx and bolted up to the crx tranny then it is a blacktop ZC not the d16a1 POS.....sorry to bite your head off I thought you took it out of an integra....yeah I pulled a d16a1 out of a teg and the tranny wouldn't even line up right with the crx tranny and the mounts are way off....I just swapped motors in an88 integra ls and the mounts are vert funky.....so yeah I think you got a ZC here
