one major difference is the copatiablity of the two basically both these engines are entirely different from each other in the sense that with the ZC all stock crx parts bolt right on to it with little to no modifications as for the older integra motors you'll be hard pressed to put that into you car i say go with the jdm ZC IMO.by the way good luck with that

Ok the zc has approx 130 hp and bolts right into all 88-91 civic/crx models.
The early integra engines (d16a1) have about 115 hp and do not bolt into the 88-91 civic/crx. However, they are a good swap option for the 84-87 civic/crx.
The b18a1(obd0) came in the 90-91 integra and is a good option for the 88-91 chassis. However, it requires more work to install which leads to it costing more because of the mount kit needed...etc.
Don't waste your time with the d16a1 because it is too much work to put in the 88-91 chassis for only a minimal gain. Go for a zc or a b series engine.

ok well would the d16a1 bolt right into lets say, an 1st gen crx si?also what year teg did that come in? if so that would be cool, i have always wanted to do a swap on an older crx, also the place i am going sells engines for $50(you pull them) so if i would find a b18a1 out of a 90-91 integra how much would it cost me to swap it in a second gen crx si. and is there anything else i would need besides the mount kit. i know the gain is minimal but for that price who cares.

Yup the d16a1 will bolt into the 1st gen crx and 3rd gen civics with minimal work depending on the model of the car it is going into. The gain for the b18a1 is well worth the cost. I was talking about the d16a1 when I said the gain was minimal.
b18a1 swap cost should be around a 1000 or so depending on the cost of the engine and transmission.
You will need:
MPFI swap if the car is a dx/lx/std
90-93 integra intermediate shaft and axles
DX/Si hubs if the car is an hf or std model
b18a1 engine and transmission
Pr4 ecu
Mount kit (Hasport, HCP, etc)
Shift linkage(Hasport, HCP etc...or make your own)
Miscellaneous parts(optional but a good idea):
Water pump
Timing belt
Thermostat
Cap and rotor
Plugs and plug wires
Clutch
Valve vover gasket, oilpan gasket, head gasket
Front and rear main seals
