Whats all need for a Headgasket change
What type of gasket should i get? the OEM A6 HG or a metal HG made for the A6. Is there any down sides to useing a metal HG? The car will hopefully be seeing some autox next year incase that matters.
what other things, besides tools, do i need? I have read that copper spray is good to use and that i should use new head bolts. What should I use to get the old gasket off very fine sand paper (suggest the grit) or a razor blade? any other thing that you can think of that could help me to change the HG post it. I have never changed one so any help will be good.
Thanks.

- the original gasket is a pain to scrape off...get some of that gasket remover spray to help get it off.
- i reused the original head bolts and havent had any kind of problems.
- if you still have to get the gasket, i would just go with a Y8 HG. cheaper, thinner and works fine. the only thing is that a few of the coolant passages dont line up perfectly, so if your really **** you can open them up really quickly...or just leave it alone.

Is the Y8 HG metal? I found a metal HG for sale for $30 that is made for the A6. That way i don't have to be **** about the Y8 the coolent passages.
Do you just use gasket remover and then it will wipe off? Or do you need to use sand paper or a razor also? Suggest which one you prefer if u have to use a razor blade or sand paper. Thanks.
