Default What would be better for me

Now, this is an intake question. My cars motor is a bit old and could use some air treatment even if it's not that great. So I was wondering if a CAI would be best, or a SRI? Also, I live in the mountains so I also change elevation constantly, go through funky weather, and climb some steep *** hills. So would a CAI help due to the elevation change? But what about water? I've heard about the bypass valves by AEM but i've also seen some e-bay ones. Would those work just as well? I don't plan on driving through many 8"+ deep puddles anytime soon, but I am going to see some rain and snow.

unless you drive through a lake, you don't need a bypass valve.

I would get the CAI as the colder air the better for power production. don't expect a whole lot from an intake, 2-3 hp maybe and a more throaty sound.

Well, if I go CAI, I could also just make a bypass valve to be on the save side. Shouldnt be too hard. Does anyone have a shot of their CIA installed behind the wheel? Also, a short ram might be better I think because I will also encounter a lot of mud!

Its not like the CAI is just sitting out in the open, if you are really concerned just but a bypass valve on anyway

I have never really seen one "installed" where the filter is. I've only seen in the engine bay and they say it just sits "6-7 inches" off of the ground so I figured it was out in the open. :$

"Wheel well liners removed + CIA"

^^That. And I think i'm going to go CIA with a bypass valve and K&N filter. Just wanna see everything that I have to do before and map it out. I've seen in some where you have to take off the bumper, others you don't have to. What is it with 90-93 Accords? O_o

Well, I got the intake in and started installing it but one problem, it's not wanting to go under enough to clear the damn body! The first part is hooked up and fine, but the second part that looke like a "J" won't go down far enough! The part that's curved is what i'm putting under to attach to the filter and i'm pretty sure that's right? O_o Any ideas?

Do you have to take off the bumper to get this damn thing to fit?

LMAO There is an intake resonator (black box) beneath that hole. You'll have to pull the bumper, remove like 3 screws from the box, and then the CAI will go on just fine

I already took that out. One of those screws was busted, so I took out the other one and it came out. But the CAI seems to be hitting the bumper. BUT! Im using it as just a short ram right now and the temps are already cooler than normal, sounds nice, and i'm noticing more power on the hills. So I think the normal air filter was fucked and letting almost no air in! Anyways, it's raining right now so I may or may not pull the bumper to get it to fit today. How many screws will be holding the bumper on?

dont have to pull the bumper, just work from the inner wheel well. raise the car up so the front suspension sags...theres plenty of room to remove the resontator from the wheel well...

running a CAI w/o a fender liner isnt any worse. you fender liner is vented quiet well, and if you have water that high, the intake will still suck up the SAME amount of water, fender liner or not. of course, the filter will get MUCH dirter ALOT sooner.

just get a short ram intake from ebay and put a K&N filter and that will do fine, you don't have to worry about water cause its not long like the normal ones, that is why its called short ram intake

agree'd. You dont need to take off the bumper, just pull down the liner and the resonator will slip out.
